Disclaimer: I ain't got no money, and nobody'd be daft enough to pay me
for this. As it is thought, so let it be said; you make the toys, I
play with 'em.
AN: came up with most of it long ago.. dusted it off for
this
Protect her. Guard her.
He didn't know where the thought came from. Didn't care,
really. As he worked, he watched her, followed her without
thinking. The need to be near her far stronger than that to do a
task.
Protect her. Guard her.
It never occurred to him not to fight for her. He had no more
memory of her than of anything else, but still he knew he'd do anything
for her. He had a moment's thought, wondering why... but it
didn't matter. Any more than having no past did. But *she*
mattered.
Protect her with your life.
Jonah watched the woman work at the dangerous machine, not sure why he
did. Why he needed to make sure she was okay. He didn’t
know her. He didn’t. But he still found himself following
her any time he could. Still found a strange nervousness in
himself when he couldn’t see her.
He heard her yell as the machines changed sound. Saw men suddenly
hurrying all around. Found himself already moving toward her,
even though he had no idea how to help. Once the machines settled
down again, he moved back to his post, trying to ignore the way his
heart had sped up, the fear he still felt coursing through him.
When she smiled, his breath jammed in his throat, the world suddenly
reduced to two bright blue eyes, shining up at him. He couldn't
help but think that it was a good thing he'd never seen that smile
before, he could have hurt someone in his distraction. But for
her to only smile like that for *him*... No, he *really* didn't
care what he'd forgotten. Nothing could be better than
this.
